Wolf and Raven

Finally got it in.

I like it its a bunch of short stories dealing with Wolfgang Kies, a wolf shaman, and Dr. Richard Raven, an Elf noble from Tir Tainger. Unless you play Shadowrun or have read some of the other books, none of those names make sense.

Anyway, Kies isnt exactly a full on Shaman, he is more of a Shamanic Adept. The wolf spirit takes over his body on the full moon and he becomes a werewolf. Rest of the time he is fighting with his wolf spirit that he calls "The old one". It makes him faster and stronger than most people. Down side is he has berzerker tendencies.

Not sure who would want to read the stories, but they are entertaining.

Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades)

Like I said before there wasn't a whole lot to the Islamic section I have not heard before. Dhimmitude is definatly not what it was made out to be. It's MUCH worse. Under Islam you can't do a great deal that people in the US take for granted. Like, say what you want about who you want, Worship as you will, Women's rights don't exist (despite the firm belif that Islam liberates women, it really makes them thier husband's or father's property.) Conversion from Islam is a death sentence. No questions asked. Not kidding, its in the Koran that you will be killed if you forsake the religon.

As for the Crusades, I didn't know that the 1st Crusade was going to turn all recaptured lands over to the Byzantines. They were, up until Alexius Comnenus failed to help the Crusaders like he said he would. The 4th Crusade sacking Constantinople was because of a power play by a contender for the Byzantine throne. The sack of Jerusalem? Standard practice by all sides. In fact, Saladin was going to kill every Christian in Jerusalem when he was fighting to conquer it, but the Franj ruler of the City said before that happend he would kill every moslem in the City. So Saladin decieded not to kill all the Christian inhabitants. Saladin was not nearly the man "history" makes him out to be.

The third section of the book deals with modern Islam and its terror practices.

Its a fairly good read and somewhat informative. I plan on marking passages for cluebatting later if I end up in another debate.

One of the two books I ordered from Amazon has come in.

The politically incorrect guide to Islam and the Crusades. So far there is not much in it that I have not heard before. I expect the Crusade section to be alot more informative. When I finish it I will post on it.

St. Paul, Minn. Officials Ban Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny has been sent packing at St. Paul City Hall.

A toy rabbit, pastel-colored eggs and a sign with the words "Happy Easter" were removed from the lobby of the City Council offices, because of concerns they might offend non-Christians.

A council secretary had put up the decorations. They were not bought with city money.

St. Paul's human rights director, Tyrone Terrill, asked that the decorations be removed, saying they could be offensive to non-Christians.

But City Council member Dave Thune says removing the decorations went too far, and he wonders why they can't celebrate spring with "bunnies and fake grass."

Wonder why it was banned. I mean, the Easter Bunny hasn't a damn thing to do with Jesus. The Easter Bunny is pretty secular if you ask me, its just there for the stores to make money from. Some people.

The Knights Templar

Is it possible that the Pope may absolve the Templar Knights of the crimes they were convicted of between 1307-1312? I think it would be a good idea mainly because of the use of torture to obtain confessions of sins. Some of the crimes they were accused of were, spitting upon the Cross, of denying Christ, of permitting sodomy, and worshipping an idol.

A few links for anyone interested in the Templars.

I blame Sig.

Crap like this pisses me off.

The Pope

The Pope has started a campaign to change the way the west views the Crusades.

THE Vatican has begun moves to rehabilitate the Crusaders by sponsoring a conference at the weekend that portrays the Crusades as wars fought with the “noble aim” of regaining the Holy Land for Christianity.

It's about time.

The Crusades are seen by many Muslims as acts of violence that have underpinned Western aggression towards the Arab world ever since. Followers of Osama bin Laden claim to be taking part in a latter-day “jihad against the Jews and Crusaders”.

I see the Crusades as trying to push muzzie influence back out of Europe.

The late Pope John Paul II sought to achieve Muslim- Christian reconciliation by asking “pardon” for the Crusades during the 2000 Millennium celebrations. But John Paul’s apologies for the past “errors of the Church” — including the Inquisition and anti-Semitism — irritated some Vatican conservatives. According to Vatican insiders, the dissenters included Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI.

As much as I adored John Paul, he did have it wrong. muzzies will never respect you for caving into them. They only understand an iron fist encased in a steel gauntlet. The anti-semitism was wrong, yes, and the Inquisition did kill alot of innocent people.

Pope Benedict reached out to Muslims and Jews after his election and called for dialogue. However, the Pope, who is due to visit Turkey in November, has in the past suggested that Turkey’s Muslim culture is at variance with Europe’s Christian roots.

You cant have a dialogue with people who are not interested in your point of view.

At the conference, held at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University, Roberto De Mattei, an Italian historian, recalled that the Crusades were “a response to the Muslim invasion of Christian lands and the Muslim devastation of the Holy Places”.

They were.

“The debate has been reopened,” La Stampa said. Professor De Mattei noted that the desecration of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem by Muslim forces in 1009 had helped to provoke the First Crusade at the end of the 11th century, called by Pope Urban II.

So, in effect, the muzzies brought about the Crusades because of thier own intolerance. Naturally, they say it is all our fault.

He said that the Crusaders were “martyrs” who had “sacrificed their lives for the faith”. He was backed by Jonathan Riley-Smith, Dixie Professor of Ecclesiastical History at Cambridge University, who said that those who sought forgiveness for the Crusades “do not know their history”. Professor Riley-Smith has attacked Sir Ridley Scott’s recent film Kingdom of Heaven, starring Orlando Bloom, as “utter nonsense”.

I never saw the movie, so I do not know.

Professor Riley-Smith said that the script, like much writing on the Crusades, was “historically inaccurate. It depicts the Muslims as civilised and the Crusaders as barbarians. It has nothing to do with reality.” It fuels Islamic fundamentalism by propagating “Osama bin Laden’s version of history”.

If the muslims were civilized back then, then WTF happend to it?

He said that the Crusaders were sometimes undisciplined and capable of acts of great cruelty. But the same was true of Muslims and of troops in “all ideological wars”. Some of the Crusaders’ worst excesses were against Orthodox Christians or heretics — as in the sack of Constantinople in 1204.

Orthodox Christians are still not Catholic Christians and are therefore heretics in the eyes of the Crusaders (plus they had alot of money).

The American writer Robert Spencer, author of A Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam, told the conference that the mistaken view had taken hold in the West as well as the Arab world that the Crusades were “an unprovoked attack by Europe on the Islamic world”. In reality, however, Christians had been persecuted after the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem.

In muzzie lands if your not a muzzie, your persecuted. In fact if your a muzzie of the wrong sect, your still persecuted, right after everyone else is persecuted.

TV

I hate watching most TV shows. Anyway, there is apperantly a Star Wars TV show being made.

Darth Vader told us about it on the bark.

He also linked to this.

Are liberals and Hitler essentially the same?

I don't remember why I started looking for articles. Wait, yes I do,

# Darth Vader : They were socialst lite
# Deathknyte : Spork they were. They belived in government regulation of buisness. You could charge what you wanted but they decided what you would produce.
# Tuning Spork : Disarming the people is the first act of a tyrant. Nazis were tyrants but they weren't socialists in the economic sense
# Deathknyte : So do socialists, not that they admit it
# Tuning Spork : They feared the people
# Deathknyte : So, why the gun laws and other socialist ideals?
# Tuning Spork : The Nazis called themselves socialists, but they were just nationalists

I edited out all the comments that had nothing to do with the conversation.

Anyway some links.

A liberals view. Read it, its somewhat interesting and alot more sane than what you usually hear from them.

Wireless impression

So far, I find it a bit irritating. I am having more no page loads and occasionally I lose the connection.

BUT, Gabe is off my computer now. That is a plus.

Gabe set it up since it came while I was at the tech. He says all he did was plug in the stuff and set up his laptop. The router we got has 4 wire ports and one wireless port so it not a full on wireless system but it is still called wireless for some reason.

I am going to call Centurytel next Monday to see what happend to the connection speed, it dropped from 400 to 100 bps. I think Gabe messed up the connection.

Thursday, March 09, 2006

Not bad.

A bible done with legos. Not complete but I like it anyway.

Tour

Today we went on a tour of the UW EC materials building. It was interesting, they have alot of very expensive equipment that undergrad schools normally do not have. They have 2 Scanning Tunneling Micoscopes, a breeder they are putting together, a XPS (X-ray photospectrophy machine, or something like that), A TPM, at least one ion mill, and this machine that can take readings of 1 part of one billion particals. That is like taking an olympic sized pool full of sand and getting one specific grain of sand out of it.

Which bring up the question. Do I take my 2 year degree and call it good enough, or go into an undergrad school and then onto a grad school to get a masters or possibly even a Phd? Much to think about.

Wireless update

It works.

Of course the thing came today. They said it would be 3 to 7 days.

U.S. whites born with privileges, activists say

Pamela Powers
Menomonie News Bureau

MENOMONIE — Just because of the color of their skin, whites are privileged in America and often don’t even realize it, according to two activist journalists.

Right. I think I would have noticed by now.

Molly Secours and Tim Wise were at UW-Stout on Monday and today as part of a residency to explore the concepts of white privilege in America.

Both left leaning activists of course.

Since 1995, Secours has had her writings published in more than 50 mainstream and Internet magazines and newspapers. She also has appeared on numerous radio and television talk shows to discuss issues of racism, white privilege and reparations for slavery.

Basically making excuses for non-whites failures so they don't have to figure out excuses for themselves. I also don't recall any blacks who were slaves still living. If there are some give them thier fourty acres and a mule. Not enough? Lifes a bitch, that is all you were ever entitled to. Of course scince the fourty acres is comging out of government land, you had better get ready to fight a court battle with the leftists for it.

Wise is a prominent anti-racist writer and has spoken to more than 80,000 people in 48 states. He is the author of the book “White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son” and “Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White.”

Mr. Wise, is presumeably, a rich white man. I am not a rich white man, am I still privlaged?

Wise said many people have no difficulty accepting it is a privilege to be wealthy or able-bodied but can’t accept that it is a privilege to be white.

Because its not really a privlege? If your white you can expect to never recive as much credit for your accomplishments as a minority will. Or maybe it is that you are expected to do so much better than they, that if a "minority" person becomes as "successful" as say... thier nieghbors they are hailed as successes and then used to justify more entitlement programs.

“It is like an American Express card,” Secours said of being white. “I never leave home without it.”

Must be nice to be wealthy.

People of color face discrimination in ways most white people don’t even recognize.

Right, your example is?

Wise used talk show host Oprah Winfrey as an example. Because she is black, Winfrey was not allowed in a jewelry store in 1994 or a Paris department store last summer, Wise said.

Lets see.. she showed up after the department store had closed and proceded to DEMAND they reopen so she could do some after hours shopping. Somehow, I don't think they would have opend for a white housewife either. But, Oprah, being a rich celebrity figures rules no longer apply to her. So its, "discrimination" because her skin happens to be black.

“Oprah Winfrey still has to ask when she gets bad customer relations if it was about race,” said Wise, who is Jewish. “I know I just got bad customer service. It says a lot about privilege. It says nothing about money. Money can’t buy her peace of mind.”

Maybe she should ask if its because she has gotten to be a spoild rich bitch?

White privilege is about just being perceived white. “It is about the society of the inherited,” he said.

Tell that to Micheal Jackson, who is whiter than most whites and gets a free pass because she, I mean he, started out black.

By recognizing the privilege, people can take the first step toward resolving racism. Secours said white people need to stop being defensive about white privilege and work toward resolving it and understanding how it affects people of color economically.

Yes, I want a free ride to college because of affermitive action. I want free money from the government because I happen to be of a certain sub-race.

People of color pay may pay higher interest rates for car loans and are watched more closely when they shop to make sure they are not shoplifting.

Well, when most of the shoplifters you catch happen to be from a certain sub-race, won't you tend to watch that sub-race closer? I know I would.

She cited the example of East Nashville, Tenn., where she lives. Police urged residents to call authorities if they saw more than two young black males age 3 to 17 wearing hooded sweatshirts. Young men were being targeted for their skin color and clothing, not for any behavior, she noted.

Gang members frequently noted to never wear hoodies or be young and black. Personally, I have never seen a ganger who looked like an accountant. Except for that farside cartoon.

It is important for more people to recognize white privilege to overcome it, Secours said.

I don't think that non-white America wants to be treated like us.

Speaking against white privilege has upset people, both speakers acknowledged.

If you say so, I am upset because I don't have what are clearly my privleges for being white.

“The reality is whatever dangers I experience, which in truth are very limited, is far less than the risk people of color take just walking out their front door and deciding to go to work or driving in a white community with a tail light out,” Wise said. “I do this because I am too scared to live in a society where we don’t address this.”

Right. I wonder what neighborhood Wise lives in, somehow, I don't think its Harlem.

Mary McManus, director of the UW-Stout Involvement and Leadership Center, said the university wanted to examine white privilege during Black History Month, particularly because most white people don’t recognize the privilege.

McManus is liberal, naturally.

Jacqueline Bluhm, a UW-Stout senior majoring in family and consumer science education, said she hopes by having such speakers on campus people will think about racism.

How about reverse racisim, like entitlements?

“I think it’s great they are targeting my generation to change their thoughts, and I hope to carry it on to the next generation,” she said. “Then I hope each generation will take it one step further.”

I see that the brainwashing was successful, you must be so proud.

Entitlements are bullshit, if you can't go out and get a burger flipper job to put you though school, your not trying. If you require government handouts to make it, maybe you should look into where your money is going, if its drugs or your new BF or GF is taking it, quit spending it or tell them to take a hike. There is no excuse for not taking advantage of the "free" education you get for preschool through highschool. If you don't apply yourself you probably won't succeed in life.

But, it's so much easier to just take the governments handout and tell yourself your entitled to it.

BULLSHIT, get some pride.
